The LORD's love and mercy continue

Lament 2:2   “The LORD swallowed up without mercy all the houses of the people of Jacob; In his anger he pulled down the strong places of Judah. He threw her kingdom and its rulers down to the ground in dishonour.”

Lament 3:1-4   “I am a man who has seen the suffering that comes from the rod of the LORD's anger. He led me into darkness, not light. He turned his hand against me again and again, all day long. He wore out my flesh and skin and broke my bones.”

Lament 3:21-24   “But I have hope when I think of this: The LORD’s love never ends; his mercies never stop. They are new every morning; LORD, your loyalty is great. I say to myself, 'The LORD is mine, so I hope in him'.”
